The Mr. Norm’s 426 Hemi Challenger and 426 Hemi Cuda Convertibles are a showcase for the latest in Gen III Hemi performance. Each of the engines is equipped with a new reciprocating assembly that includes a forged crank, rods and pistons that increase engine displacement to 7 liters, or the magic Mopar number; 426 cubic inches. Far stronger than the factory cast rods and pistons, these components provide the ultimate complement to the Mr. Norm’s Signature Kenne Bell 2.8 liter twin screw supercharger that pumps up the volume of the Hemi engines to a whopping 725 pavement melting horsepower.

Backing up the performance of the thundering supercharged Hemi engines on both convertibles is the Mr. Norm’s Hi Performance Rear Suspension System that replaces the stock components. The Mr. Norm’s Rear Suspension System utilizes the beefy Viper SRT-10 spec Dana 44 differential that’s mated to a significantly more robust driveshaft and half shafts. In addition, the 426 Hemi Convertibles also feature the Mr. Norm’s Chassis Bracing Upgrade that includes frame connectors and additional bracing for a stiff unibody structure. TTI manufactured the low restriction cat back dual exhaust system that produces an aggressive exhaust note that befits a blown Hemi. Balancing out the awesome power is an AFCO fully adjustable coil over suspension system that provides great stance and handling without compromising ride quality.

Accentuating the bold stance of the Mr. Norm’s 426 Hemi Challenger and 426 Hemi Cuda Convertibles is a set of classically inspired Mr. Norm’s “Thrust” custom wheels that are sure to turn even the most jaded enthusiast green with envy. Inspired by the mag wheels that were popular when the first Hemi Challengers and Hemi Cuda’s ruled the streets, these new forged, multi piece, 20 inch wheels evoke all of the nostalgia of the originals, with the added benefit of 21st century design and engineering. 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6






BMW announced the production version of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6. The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 will make its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September and will reach US BMW Centers in fourth-quarter 2009. The overall drive system featured in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 consists of a 400 hp twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine and two electric synchronous motors delivering 91 hp and 86 hp, respectively. Maximum system output is 480 hp, and peak torque reaches 575 lb-ft.

Precisely controlled interaction of the three power units optimizes the overall efficiency of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 at all speeds, with acceleration from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. Top speed of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is limited electronically to 130 mph, with average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle improved by roughly 20%, and a CO2 emission rating of 231 grams per kilometer. EPA ratings will be available closer to the market introduction.

BMW ActiveHybrid X6 able to run exclusively on electric power – and that is entirely free of CO2 – up to a speed of 37 mph (60 km/h), with the combustion engine being activated automatically whenever required. With the two electric motors, three planetary gearsets and four multi-plate clutches, drive power is transmitted through a 7-speed automatic transmission. As would be expected in a BMW, the driver can operate the transmission manually. BMW’s lauded xDrive all-wheel-drive system distributes the power between the front and rear axles.

2009 Chevrolet Corvette Racing C6.R GT2

Based on the Corvette ZR1 supercar, the next-generation Corvette C6.R has even stronger links to the production version of America’s performance icon than its predecessors. The GT2 rules require the use of many production-based components, expanding the opportunities for the two-way transfer of technology between the race track and the showroom. The updated Corvette C6.R utilizes the ZR1’s body design, aerodynamic package, aluminum frame and chassis structure, steering system, windshield, and other components. The race team has prepared the cars for the rigors of endurance racing with safety and performance modifications as permitted by the GT2 rules.
Previous versions of the Corvette C5-R and C6.R race cars have dominated the GTS and GT1 categories in the last decade, winning 77 races and eight consecutive ALMS championships. The GT1 Corvettes were retired following Corvette Racing’s sixth victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14, 2009.
The upcoming GT regulations required a comprehensive redesign of the Corvette C6.R package. In place of the GT1 Corvette’s steel frame, the GT2 version utilizes the production ZR1’s hydroformed aluminum frame as the foundation for a fully integrated tubular steel safety cage. The GT1 version’s wide, louvered fenders are replaced by production-based ZR1 fenders with wheel flares. In accordance with the aerodynamic regulations, the rear wing is reduced 25 percent in width, the diffuser is a flat panel without fences or strakes, and the splitter extends only as far as its production ZR1 counterpart. Steel brake rotors have replaced the carbon discs used previously, and the wheels are aluminum instead of magnesium. The adjustable steering column and steering rack are sourced from the street Corvette.

In the remaining races in 2009, the Corvette race cars will be powered by 6.0-liter GM small-block V8s that are based on the 7.0-liter LS7.R that powered the GT1 version. This reduction in displacement was achieved by shortening the crankshaft stroke from 3.875-inch to 3.32-inch. The diameter of the series-mandated intake air restrictors was decreased from 30.6 mm to 28.6 mm, with a corresponding reduction in engine output from 590 to 470 horsepower. A 5.5-liter production-based GM small-block V8 is currently under development and will be introduced at the start of the 2010 season. The Corvette Racing team is continuing its commitment to green racing with the use of E85R ethanol racing fuel.

While much of the hardware has changed, Corvette Racing’s roster of championship-winning drivers remains the same. Johnny O’Connell and Jan Magnussen will share the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R, and Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta will drive the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6. R. They will be joined by Antonio Garcia and Marcel Fassler at Petit Le Mans.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate





Mercedes has unveiled the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate which will offer a range of fuel efficient engines including the E250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY that develops 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque and needs 5.7 liters of fuel to go for 100 km. The CO2 emissions level of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is 150 g/km. The engine line-up available for the new 2010 Mercedes E Class Estate at launch comprises five units developing between 125 kW/170 hp and 285 kW/388 hp.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate model will be released for sale in Europe on August 5 and hit showrooms on November 21.

2009 GeigerCars Hummer H2 Latte Macciatto





The GeigerCars Hummer H2 Latte Macciatto has received a supercharger which takes the power output up to 547 PS at 5900 rpm and 763 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. The GeigerCars Hummer H2 Latte Macciatto can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and can run as fast as 228 km/h.

2008 TopCar Vantage GTR Porsche Cayenne

In 2008 TOPCAR Company prepared a limited series Vantage GTR Porsche Cayenne. Only 25 cars will be manufactured, each of them manufactured in compliance with client’s wishes and will have its personal number.

While tuning the car, designers of TOPCAR Company combined aerodynamic kits from Advantage GT and Vantage – each of 25 Porsche Cayenne will have this integrated aerodynamic kit, where front optics remains standard, but the car receives enlarged rear wings with impressive air inlets from Advantage GT. In this way, SUV visually transforms into coupe, but it has no round lights of 911 model in 997 body. It means that in the near future another 25 fierce and aggressive Porsche Cayenne, will be on road, making horror to their standard fellow creatures.
When a new body kit is installed, hood, radiator guard, front bumper, sills, rear bumper are replaced and rear wings are equipped with moldings. Knobs of rear doors disappear. Neat buttons replace them; they are thoroughly hidden in big side air inlets, as in Advantage GT Project. Similar to the previous aerodynamic body kits from TOPCAR Company, Vantage GTR body kits are manufactured of reinforced Kevlar, and some elements are produced of dry carbon.

German company 9FF is a traditional partner of TOPCAR Company in tuning of engines of Porsche Cayenne.
Within the frame of this project TOPCAR Company has already manufactured 7 cars. The price of aerodynamic body kit for Vantage GTR is EURO 45,000. This aerodynamic kit can be created on the basis of any Porsche Cayenne, even from previous generation.

2010 Porsche 911 Turbo





Porsche revealed a new top model of its broad range of production sports cars, the new 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo. This seventh generation Porsche 911 Turbo comes with the new power unit displacing 3.8-litres and delivering maximum output of 500 hp (368 kW). The first entirely new engine in the 35 year history of the Turbo comes with features such as Direct Fuel Injection and twin turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, the latter attribute being unique to Porsche on a petrol engine.

Depending on the configuration of the car, the new Porsche 911 Turbo offers fuel consumption ranging between 24.1 – 24.8 mpg (equal to 11.7 – 11.4 litres/100 km). The Porsche 911 Turbo accelerate from 0-62mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 secs. Top speed, in turn, is 194 mph (312 km/h.)

The next generation Porsche 911 Turbo Coupé and Cabriolet go on sale in the UK and Ireland on November 21 2009, priced from £101,823 for the Coupé and £109,048 for the Cabriolet.

Lamborghini hybrid Gallardo coming 2015

Lamborghini may not be the first brand you’d associate with a hybrid, but then again you wouldn’t assume they’d make a four-door saloon and look what they did with the Estoque. The car company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has revealed that Lamborghini will release a hybrid version of their Gallardo supercar in 2015.
Speaking to German-language car magazine Automobilewoche, Winkelmann revealed that rather than a 100-percent electric sportscar in the mold of the Tesla, the hybrid Gallardo will use a small electric motor for urban traffic. When the road opens up, however, the full petrol engine will kick in; Lamborghini haven’t decided on a 10- or 12-cylinder engine, but either way we doubt the car will lack urgency.

If it proves a commercial and engineering success, the company are considering applying the hybrid technology to their Murcielago. No word on how much you should set aside for your new, earth-friendly Lambo come 2015, but considering the “entry level” Gallardo comes in at over $201,000 we’d suggest the biggest piggy-bank you can find.

Now Chevy Volt Gets 230 MPG City EPA Rating

GM CEO Fritz Henderson announced today that the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric car has been given an official EPA rating of more than 230 MPG city and a combined city/highway average fuel economy of more than 100 MPG.

The photo above is the first ever of the production Volt charger.

Henderson mentioned that GM has been quietly promoting the numbers 2 and 2 with a happy outlet and today owned up to it.

He said the EPA has developed a new federal fuel economy methodology draft for PHEVs.

Using this technique, the Volt will become the first mass produced vehicle to obtain a triple digit MPG rating. He also noted using this system the Volt is determined to have an efficiency of 25 kwh/100 miles. Considering the cost of electricity this amounts to 3 cents per mile.

“From the data we’ve seen, many Chevy Volt drivers may be able to be in pure electric mode on a daily basis without having to use any gas,” said GM Chief Executive Officer Fritz Henderson. “EPA labels are a yardstick for customers to compare the fuel efficiency of vehicles. So, a vehicle like the Volt that achieves a composite triple-digit fuel economy is a game-changer.”

The methodology assumes in city driving the car will mostly operate on electricity but some degree of gas operation is taken into account. The petroleum equivalence of electricity and a utility factor weighing in the population’s driving behavior are also included in the calculation.

The Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle is expected to achieve city fuel economy of at least 230 miles per gallon, based on development testing using a draft EPA federal fuel economy methodology for labeling for plug-in electric vehicles.

The Volt, which is scheduled to start production in late 2010 as a 2011 model, is expected to travel up to 40 miles on electricity from a single battery charge and be able to extend its overall range to more than 300 miles with its flex fuel-powered engine-generator.

“From the data we’ve seen, many Chevy Volt drivers may be able to be in pure electric mode on a daily basis without having to use any gas,” said GM Chief Executive Officer Fritz Henderson. “EPA labels are a yardstick for customers to compare the fuel efficiency of vehicles. “The key to high-mileage performance is for a Volt driver to plug into the electric grid at least once each day,” Henderson said.

Volt drivers’ actual gas-free mileage will vary depending on how far they travel and other factors, such as how much cargo or how many passengers they carry and how much the air conditioner or other accessories are used. Based on the results of unofficial development testing of pre-production prototypes, the Volt has achieved 40 miles of electric-only, petroleum-free driving in both EPA city and highway test cycles.

Escape puts Ford back atop Cash For Clunkers sales pileup

In America, we like our sports and love to keep score. Even when it comes to car-buying subsidies, we want to know which model is selling best. The government says the Ford Focus is the top seller under Cash for Clunkers, but Edmunds has a different winner: the Ford Escape. The discrepancy stems from the government's old-school way of counting model sales. The feds consider each model variant a separate vehicle, while Edmunds counts vehicle sales as a whole. In the case of the Escape, the Environmental Protection Agency counts the crossover as six separate models; including FWD, AWD and Hybrid versions.

While the government's list of C4C top sellers contains mainly small cars, the Edmunds list tells a different story. Since the feds count each truck configuration (GM and Ford trucks each have five) as a different model, no pickups made the cut. That was a surprise to many, considering the fact that 83% of the vehicles turned in were trucks, and large pickups have lower fuel economy requirements to work under C4C. On the Edmunds list, the Ford F-150 comes in at number five, while the Silverado sits at seven.

There's been plenty of healthy discussion regarding C4C, and it appears even counting methods are up for debate. With a fresh $2 billion getting dumped into the program's coffers, it looks like we'll be able to keep talking straight through Labor Day. BMW's coupe concept rendered, but is it coming to Frankfurt

Photoshop savant Jon Sibal has worked his rendering wizardry on one of the BMW spy shots we saw earlier this week, but according to the automaker, the cloaked concept isn't bound for a Frankfurt Motor Show debut.

Citing a source within BMW, iMotorMag is reporting that the vehicle in question is a five-year-old design study that was being moved from the automaker's studio in Germany to a storage facility. Although BMW still plans to unveil the Vision EfficientDynamics concept next month in Frankfurt, this reportedly isn't it (anyone else smell damage control?). However, that little detail doesn't detract from Sibal's efforts.

Taking a few cues from the BMW M1 Homage concept, particularly the sculpted and creased front clip, Sibal's rendering does its best to interpret the coupe's lines through the tight cover. Although we think the twin-kidney grille probably descends further down the fascia, we're digging the reinterpreted Hoffmeister Kink that's been warped and indented to match the sharp lines of the concept. We'll know if Sibal's rendering was spot-on next month or if BMW has a new trick up its sleeve when the wraps come off BMW's next-generation coupe concept in Germany.
